2023 Art on the Rim - El Paso, Texas

This public art exhibition showcases sculptures along Rim Road in El Paso, Texas, a historic road that runs along the Franklin Mountains and overlooks the city. The exhibit runs from September 30th through October 31st, 2023, with a private opening for homeowners on September 30th and a public opening for families on October 1st.

Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend per piece, with an additional $500 "Best of Show" award determined by online voting throughout the exhibition. Works will be on loan for 32 days and available for sale if the artist chooses. A 10% commission on sales goes to the El Paso Community Foundation to support future exhibits and artist stipends. The artwork will be exhibited in front of residences along Rim Road, with placement decided by exhibit curators. Artists are required to deliver their artwork in person to El Paso. The El Paso Community Foundation will provide insurance for the duration of the exhibition, but not for damage during installation and deinstallation. Artists are responsible for transportation, installation, and deinstallation costs.

Sculptures may be in any media but must be durable, suitable for outdoors, and able to withstand the elements and public interaction. Works may be functional or non-functional. Existing sculptures and proposals for new work are accepted; proposals can be submitted as sketches with examples of other work. Up to three sculptures can be submitted per artist. Submissions must include an artist's statement (PDF), resume or CV (PDF), and digital images (JPEG or PDF files only). Installation dates are September 27-29. This call is open to professional artists, artist teams, emerging artists, and students.
