About This Call

The 2023 Art on Loan Program, administered by the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC), is accepting proposals for sculptures to be displayed at two outdoor locations: Goodson Recreation Center in Centennial and The Hudson Gardens & Events Center in Littleton. The program seeks to promote and highlight local and Colorado artists while enhancing public interest in art and community pride.

SPPAC is seeking up to three sculptures for Goodson Recreation Center (6315 South University Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121) and up to two sculptures for The Hudson Gardens & Events Center (6115 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO 80120). At Goodson, sculptures must fit on existing concrete pads (36" diameter, approximately 18" height) with embedded steel plates (24" x 24" x 1/2") for welding. At Hudson Gardens, two outdoor display pedestals will be constructed with no size restrictions. All sculptures cannot exceed 4,000 pounds in overall weight. Sculptures must be original works, durable, non-breakable, relatively maintenance-free, appropriate for outdoor public display, and meet standards for public safety and structural integrity. The artwork must be available for sale and, if sold, must remain on display for the one-year exhibition period.

Eligibility is open to all artists residing in Colorado with appropriate background, experience, and reputation. Each application represents one artwork and should include three different images of the same work (up to five images maximum). Artists may submit up to 10 different pieces, one per application. A $500 Exhibitor's Honorarium is provided to each selected artist after installation in June 2023. The artist is responsible for transporting artwork to and from the venue, providing an appropriate pedestal if required, making necessary modifications for mounting, and insuring their own work. SSPRD will assist with offloading, equipment operation for welding, and de-installation. If artwork is sold, the artist must pay a 20% commission to SSPRD. The submission deadline is Monday, March 20, 2023.
