About This Call
The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County invites local visual artists to apply for solo gallery exhibitions at their headquarters (601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth Beach), which features three galleries used for visual arts exhibitions and performances throughout the year.
The Solo Gallery provides Palm Beach County-based emerging or professional visual artists with an opportunity for a solo exhibition, typically featuring a full series of their work or a sampling representative of their career evolution. The 2023-2024 schedule will include six solo shows that run for six weeks each. Selected artists receive services valued at $3,500, including a dedicated Director of Artist Services to assist with artwork selection, installation/de-installation, and logistics; announcement postcards (300 printed, up to 200 for artist distribution); opening reception for up to 50 guests; inclusion on the Council's website, e-newsletter, and press announcements; exhibition signage; and opportunity to be featured in the Council's social media program. The Council retains 25% of all art sales to support artist services staff and building maintenance.
Artists must submit an artist statement, brief bio, and up to seven images of individual artworks (jpg files, not larger than 5 MB each). Artwork may be any medium including photography, video, work on paper, sculptural installations, crafts, and textiles. All artwork information (Title, Date, Dimensions, Medium, Edition, Run length, Insurance Value) must be included. Artists must list their top three choices for show dates. The artist must be the sole author and owner of the title and copyright of all artwork entered. Eligibility is limited to artists who live in Palm Beach County, Florida. Selected applicants will be notified by June 5, 2023, with possible exhibition dates ranging from October 2023 through August 2024. Selected participants are responsible for delivery and pickup of artwork and must sign a Memorandum of Understanding and fine art loan agreement. Artwork will be insured on premises if a list of artwork titles, descriptions, and values is presented prior to delivery; artwork is not insured in transit.
