2023 10 Minute Play Contest

Durango Arts Center invites playwrights from around the world to submit original 10-minute plays. Submissions go through a tiered reading process with author names and hometowns kept anonymous from judges. The top 10 plays will be performed at a free reading in late spring, where a panel of judges will select the Grand Prize winner and the audience will select the People's Choice Award. The 5 plays with the most votes will be fully produced and performed by local directors and actors at DAC's Annual Festival in October.

Each play should require two to four characters and minimal props and costumes. Submissions must be in .docx or .pdf format, with the script (exclusive of title and cast description pages) no more than ten pages. Author names, addresses, or contact information must not appear on any page of the script. Only original plays never before produced or published are eligible. Playwrights may submit more than one play.

Submission fee is $12.50 USD per play (non-refundable). Entry deadline is March 2, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Plays not submitted in the required format will not be entered and the entry fee will be forfeited.
