About This Call
Remarque Print Workshop is offering a week-long printmaking residency for six artists from across the country and beyond. The residency takes place May 30th - June 4th, 2022 in Albuquerque, NM.
Selected artists will have complete 24-hour access to the 3,000 square foot studio, which includes six Takach presses, Akua inks, exposure unit, plate cutter, and etching tanks. Applicants are expected to have prior printmaking knowledge but need not be familiar with non-toxic Akua inks and etching processes. Artists must purchase their own paper, plates, and additional materials. Lodging and food are not provided, though the workshop recommends affordable local Airbnb rentals.
The residency aims to provide printmakers who may lack access to presses and studio equipment with an intensive week of artistic production. The workshop welcomes artists who work independently and those exploring new techniques as well as those focusing intensively on one project. Artists may be invited to teach a workshop, participate in a pop-up show, or give an artist's talk. A meet and greet reception is held Sunday evening before the residency begins, and artists are invited to share their work on Tuesday evening. In return, selected artists must donate one print to the gallery and pay a $100 administrative fee.
To apply, submit three to five examples of artwork, a resume, and a short bio. Include a description (less than one page) of the project(s) you plan to work on during the residency. Entry fee is $35.
