2022 Georgia Watercolor Society Juried Member Exhibition

Georgia Watercolor Society is accepting submissions for its 43rd Juried Member Exhibition. This exhibition is for members only and will be held in person at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in the historic district of downtown Gainesville, Georgia. The center offers an ample and elegant exhibiting gallery providing significant space and light for artwork appreciation, along with a sculpture garden and well-appointed indoor and outdoor facilities.

The exhibition runs August 11 – September 30, 2023. Selected artists will be announced July 6. Shipped artwork must arrive August 3-5, with hand delivery available August 6 (10 am - 1 pm). In-person artwork pickup is October 1 (10 am - 1 pm), with shipped artwork picked up by UPS/FedEx on October 3. The entry fee is $35.00, and there is $2,500 in cash awards. The juror is Lynn Pratt.

Submissions must be original water media paintings (watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, or egg tempera) completed after June 20, 2020. Collage is accepted only if all elements were made using water media and created by the artist. Work previously exhibited in any GWS show is not eligible. Image size displayed within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches with no side smaller than 8 inches. All paintings must be framed in wood or metal (gold, silver, black, brown, or natural wood tones) with plain, unadorned frames not exceeding 3" in width. Plexiglass (not glass) must be used unless the work is varnished or waxed. Maximum frame size may not exceed 48" in either direction. Mats and liners must be white or variations of white with a single opening. Submitted artwork may not be a copy, likeness, or direct derivative of another person's creative work, and work done in a workshop or under classroom supervision is not permitted. For shipping, use UPS or FedEx with Airfloat, Masterpack, or comparable foam-lined boxes. A $25.00 handling fee applies if alternative boxes are used. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed.
