About This Call
The Farm to Forest Plein Air Festival will be held October 13-16, 2022 at the Alexandria Museum of Art (933 Second Street, Alexandria, LA 71301). The 2022 juror is Suzie Baker, an award-winning plein air artist and president of Oil Painters of America.
Artists must submit 2-3 samples of plein air work completed within the last 3 years. The entry fee is $55.00, and artists may submit up to 3 applications. Artists must be 18 and older and work in 2D mediums. All works must be completed during the festival event and stamped with the AMoA Farm to Forest Plein Air stamp. Materials allowed include canvas, panel, paper, copper, and wood boards up to 16"x20", with acceptable mediums including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, gouache, ink, and pencil. Artists may paint at suggested daily locations or anywhere within Rapides Parish.

The deadline for art drop-off is Sunday, October 16 at 12:00 pm, followed by the Palette Party & Awards at 4:00 pm. A separate Quick Paint Challenge is scheduled for Friday, October 14 from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm, a timed open-air painting event open to the public with Professional and Amateur categories. Art sales are split 70% to the artist and 30% to the museum, with artists setting their own prices. Awards include First Place $1,000, Second Place $750, Third Place $500, Artists' Choice (Ad in Plein Air Magazine), and Peoples' Choice $250. An optional artist workshop with Suzie Baker is available Monday, October 17 with separate registration required. The museum will display finished works through October 28, 2022.
