About This Call

The 2022 Extreme Pressure Biennial of American Prints is the inaugural competitive national exhibition organized by the Webber Gallery of the College of Central Florida. Open to all forms of traditional printmaking, the exhibition will present a celebration and examination of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout the United States. The exhibition will be on view from August 8 to September 22, 2022, with a reception and awards announcement on August 19.

Eligibility: North American artists residing in the United States, 18 years and older. Work must have been completed within the last four years. Original works in all printmaking media are eligible, including monoprint, monotype, screen print, etching, engraving, drypoint, photopolymer, photogravure, collagraph, lithography, woodcut, and linocut. Photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered. Submissions must utilize traditional hand-printed media as their primary technique but may include digital output elements.

Entry fee: $10 per entry, up to three images. Submit JPEG files only, minimum 1200 pixels on the longer side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, maximum 5 MB. High resolution JPEG files will be required for accepted artwork. Juror: Janet Ballweg, Professor of Art and Head of Printmaking at Bowling Green State University. Over $3,000 is available in juror-designated award and purchase prizes: First Prize $500, Second Prize $300, Third Prize $100, Honorable Mention (2) $50 each. Purchase awards totaling a minimum of $2,500 will be made through local organizations with some works entering the permanent collections of the College of Central Florida and possibly the Appleton Museum of Art. A 10% commission will be charged on all sales. Artwork must be shipped by July 28, 2022, framed with plexiglass (no glass), securely wired or with D-rings, and include a return shipping label.
