About This Call

The 2022 Eugene Biennial invites Oregon artists, 18 years and older, from Lane, Linn, Lincoln, Benton, Douglas and Coos counties to submit one to five recent works for consideration. The exhibition will take place at Karin Clarke Gallery in Eugene, Oregon from August 3-10, 2022, during Eugene's Visual Arts Week. This is the 4th Eugene Biennial, founded in 2016 to showcase emerging artists in the region. Most media are welcomed—paintings, prints, photography, mixed-media, fibers, sculpture, ceramics, and more. There is no theme to the show. All artwork must be for sale, and the gallery will take a 50% commission on works sold.

Jurors are Artist Tallmadge Doyle, Art Collector and Connoisseur David Hilton, and Gallerist/Artist Karin Clarke. Awards include Best of Show ($500 sponsored by the City of Eugene Cultural Services), three Juror's Choice Awards of $250 each, and an Eleanor Freeman "People's Choice" Award ($300). Three Honorable Mentions will also be selected. All award-winners and honorable mentions receive memberships to The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Eight award winners will be invited to exhibit at the Eugene Biennial Award Winners - One Year Later show in August 2023. For awards, preference will be given to artists not already represented by Karin Clarke Gallery and White Lotus Gallery.

Entry fee is $30 for up to five pieces. Submission dates are January 1 - April 30, 2022. Artists will be notified on or before May 31, 2022. Artwork must be hand-delivered to the gallery on Saturday, July 30th or Sunday, July 31st. Size limitations: 2-D wall art maximum 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall and no more than 50 lbs; sculpture must occupy no more than 20 square inches of floor space or fit on a pedestal with maximum 16 inches depth. All artwork must be framed, installation-ready with hanging hardware. Unsold artwork may be picked up August 27 or 28. Contact [email protected] with questions.
