2022 Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition

The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI) has hosted the nation's premier exhibition of African-American art for more than 50 years. This annual show presents more than 100 works of art from professional and emerging Black artists from around the world. The 2022 Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition runs from January 17 to April 17, 2022.

Contemporary works created in any visual medium are accepted, including Architecture + Design, Ceramics, Digital Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography + Video, Print Media, Sculpture, and Textiles. Work must have been completed in the past three years (2019-present) and must be original, unsold artwork not previously selected for any Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition. Each artist may submit up to four individual artworks. Accepted work must be finished, dry, and ready for professional installation. Dimension limits: 2D hard-sided works may not exceed 96 inches in any direction; 2D soft works may not exceed 104 inches in any direction; 3D small scale works are generally displayed within vitrines accommodating up to 34 inches high. MSI is not able to install artwork which hangs from the ceiling.

Eligibility: Black artists over 18 years of age (General Category) or Black artists 18 years or younger or currently enrolled in grades 9-12 (Teen Category). Application fees have been waived. Awards: General Category—First Place $3,000, Second Place $2,000, Third Place $1,000; Teen Category—First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200. Submissions are accepted via CaFE only. Images should be JPEG or JPG format, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, file size not exceeding 5MB. Video submissions must be ADA-compliant. Artists will be notified via email of jury decisions in early November. Participating artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of works on specified dates.
