About This Call
The 2022 Art on Loan Program, administered by the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC), is accepting proposals for a year-long outdoor sculpture exhibition. The program aims to promote and highlight local and Colorado artists while promoting public interest in art, developing community pride, and enhancing the visitor experience.
Sculptures will be displayed at two locations: Goodson Recreation Center (Centennial) seeks up to three sculptures, and The Hudson Gardens & Events Center (Littleton) seeks up to two sculptures. At Goodson, sculptures must fit on existing concrete pads (36" diameter, approximately 18" height) with embedded steel plates for welding. At Hudson Gardens, two outdoor display pedestals will be constructed with no size restrictions. All sculptures cannot exceed 4,000 pounds in overall weight. Proposed sculptures must be appropriate for outdoor public display, of high artistic quality, original works, durable, non-breakable, relatively maintenance-free, and meet standards for public safety and structural integrity.
Eligibility is open to all artists residing in Colorado with appropriate background, experience, and reputation. Each application represents one artwork and should include three different images of the same work (up to five images allowed). Artists may submit up to 10 different pieces, one per application. A $500 Exhibitor's Honorarium is provided to each selected artist after installation in June 2022. The artist is responsible for transporting artwork to and from the venue, providing an appropriate pedestal if required, making necessary modifications for mounting, and insuring their own work. If artwork is sold during the exhibition, the artist must pay a 20% commission to SSPRD. Submission deadline: Monday, March 7, 2022.
