About This Call
SNAG's Annual Juried Student Exhibition will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center during the 2022 SNAG x Providence Conference, June 1-4, 2022. This annual juried exhibition seeks to highlight the best of student work in the metals and jewelry field.
Eligible applicants must be 18 years of age or older and currently enrolled in any educational program including college, university, technical college, community college, non-traditional school, community arts, cultural center, or non-profit. Those working through apprenticeship/assistantship paths are also included. Students must provide the name(s) of metal faculty teaching at their institution. Images of up to three pieces of original artwork created between January 2020 and March 2022 may be submitted. All work must be accompanied by title, material, dimensions, and year of completion. Applicants must also submit an artist statement (250 word maximum) and one-page resume. Artworks included in previous SNAG student exhibitions are not eligible. Entry fee is $25 for student non-members or $15 for current SNAG student members (use discount code STUDENT22).
Prizes for selected works include: Best in Show—$50 SNAG Conference Trunk Show Gift Certificate or set of SNAG Jewelry & Metal Survey Books plus ¼ page ad in Metalsmith; 2 Honorable Mentions—$25 SNAG Conference Trunk Show Gift Certificate or a SNAG Jewelry & Metal Survey Book. The jury will emphasize showcasing the diversity of students in materials, aesthetics, levels of experience and background. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to SNAG and must include a pre-paid shipping label for return work. SNAG will insure work for the wholesale value (50% of retail price) while in SNAG's possession. Insurance during transit is the artist's responsibility. Work will be de-installed June 5th and shipped back to artists June 13-17. Notification of accepted work is April 15th, with a May 15th deadline for receiving work.
