About This Call
This national juried exhibition is open to all US-based and Hawaii-based artists working in 2D and 3D abstract art in all mediums. The entry fee is $15 per artwork with a maximum of five entries per artist. Artists may submit 1-5 work samples, which can include images, audio, or video files. For 3D work, submitting multiple photos as a collage is recommended to show different angles.
The submission deadline is Friday, July 15 at 5:59 p.m. HST. Artist notification will be sent Monday, July 18. The exhibition runs from Friday, August 5 through Thursday, August 25 at Wailoa Center, 200 Piopio St., Hilo, Hawaii. An open house is scheduled for Friday, August 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The juror is Lonny Tomono, a sculptor and printmaker based in Hawaii. Monetary prizes will be awarded. All accepted works are required to be for sale, with Wailoa Center charging a 20% commission on sales.
Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from Wailoa Center. Packages must include a prepaid return label and a $10 handling fee. Drop-off of accepted artwork at Wailoa Center is Saturday, July 30 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Off-island work must be received by Friday, July 29. Artists must pick up work Friday, August 26 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
