2021 Walk of Art Sculpture Exhibition

Art Rapids! is seeking artist applications for original sculptures suited to an outdoor park setting. The sculptures will be exhibited at Elk Rapids Day Park, owned by Antrim County and located in Elk Rapids, Michigan. Sculptures created with commercial molds, patterns, kits, copies, or similar methods are ineligible. Selected works will demonstrate intimate connections between art, place, and the natural environment.

Submit your application and agreement by March 15, 2021, along with 3 to 6 representative digital images, sketches, or a scale maquette of your proposed sculpture. Digital images must be in JPEG format and submitted on a CD or by email. Sculptures are selected by qualified jurors; decision letters will be mailed or emailed to all applicants. Art Rapids reserves the right to refuse finished sculptures that are materially different from the accepted concept.

Selected sculptures will be on loan to Art Rapids and the park for a minimum of one year and maximum of three years. Installation occurs annually between May 1st and May 20th. The artist is responsible for installation and will receive a $600 stipend upon successful installation. The sculpture must be sufficiently durable to withstand Northern Michigan weather conditions and remain outside and uncovered throughout the loan period. The park is open to the public and unstaff; sculptures will not be protected by barriers or enclosures. Artists are responsible for maintenance and insurance of their work. Art Rapids and Antrim County will not insure sculptures for damage or loss. Art Rapids and Antrim County have the right to use images of accepted sculptures in promotional materials without compensation. Entry fee: $10.00. International eligibility.
