2021 International Krappy Kamera Competition

The 2021 International Krappy Kamera is a photography competition open to all photographers age 18 years old or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. The competition is juried by Ann Jastrab, Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California. Ann has extensive experience in photography curation and has previously juried the International Plastic Camera Show for ten years.

The competition seeks extraordinary photographs made with lousy lenses. Examples of Krappy Kameras include the Holga, Diana, Ansco, and pinhole cameras. You can also create your own Krappy Kamera by using a non-Krappy camera and exchanging the lens with a Krappy lens (such as a pinhole body cap or Holga-type lens). Cell phones, disposables, and point and shoot cameras are ineligible. The lens is the determining factor—just because a camera is old and moldy does not make it Krappy.

Submissions must include 5 to 15 digital images uploaded at callforentry.org. The entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the standard submission. The entry deadline is April 20, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. For questions, contact [email protected].
