About This Call
PlatteForum, in partnership with the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), announces the Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program: Denver. The program's goal is to foster a local community of artists sharing the immigrant experience and provide resources through entrepreneurial training, access to other artists, arts professionals, and organizations. The program offers immigrant artists the opportunity to focus on their creative practice, gain support and exposure for their work, while upholding their distinct cultural identities.
This competitive program is open to Denver artists from all disciplines (performing, literary, visual, multidisciplinary, video/film, folk and traditional arts) and is provided free of charge to accepted participants. The program runs from February 2021 to June 2021. Eligibility requires living within the seven-county Denver metro area, having at least one parent born outside the United States (including US territories), being at least 18 years old, and not currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program. Refugees are welcome to apply. Priority is given to artists living and working in Denver.
The program includes two weekend entrepreneurial training sessions (February 27-28 and May 22-23), a mid-program check-in (April 7), and one-on-one mentoring. Mentors will review applications focusing on artistic vision, resources sought, and career goals. Topics covered include strategic planning, finance, law, marketing, and fundraising. The program concludes with a final exhibition with presenting opportunities for all selected applicants. Notification of acceptance is Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Application materials required: long-term goals and program interest, professional career narrative, website or online presence link, and work samples (4-8 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files). Contact: [email protected] or [email protected].
