2021 Exhibitions & Artist Residency | Mexico City

Proyectos Galería (PRPG.mx) is a Dab Art Co. satellite gallery located in Colonia Juárez, Mexico City. Housed in a 2-story former residence with 3,000 square feet of combined exhibition space, the gallery features display walls consistent with contemporary U.S. galleries while maintaining original colonial-style architecture. The gallery is curated exclusively by Dab Art Co. curator Michael Swank, with a contemporary program focus on artists and artwork within (but not limited to) the LGBTQ+ community.

Artists selected for exhibition will also receive a one-week virtual artist residency designed to connect artists globally, create discipline for studio practice, and provide a unified voice for shared experiences. Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Proposals may include multiple disciplines. All work must be original, unsold, and the artist must own sole copyright. 2D artwork selected for exhibition must be ready to hang with professional-quality frames, mats, and wiring in good condition. No saw-tooth hangers are permitted.

Entry fee is $35 for 3 images, with additional images at $5 per image (maximum 20 images). An optional consultation with the curator is available for $75, including in-depth review of submission, website, social media, biography, and artist statement, with feedback limited to 1 hour via Zoom. Entries submitted on or before February 28, 2021 are considered for upcoming exhibition; entries are reviewed weekly. Gallery retains 50% commission on all exhibition sales. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. Shipments must include prepaid UPS or FedEx return labels and be in reusable containers. No packing peanuts are permitted. Notifications are sent via email within 2 weeks after the close of each calendar month. Payment to artists is provided within 60 days after the exhibit concludes and receipt of full payment from buyer.
