About This Call
Presented by Douglas Land Conservancy, this plein air painting event invites artists to paint on beautiful, private conserved properties in southern Douglas County, Colorado that are rarely open to the public. Artists will paint on location for a week (June 21-25, 2021), followed by a VIP art sale and reception at the White Pavilion in downtown Castle Rock on June 25, 2021. The art show continues June 25-27, 2021. Volunteers will be available on site to provide information and directions to painting locations.
Artist eligibility is open to all artists painting in plein air. Subject matter must reflect conserved lands. The application fee is $35 (non-refundable). Artists may submit up to six images for jurying, representative of their typical work. All work must be wired and ready to hang. Submissions must include a brief biography, price range, and website. Notification of acceptance will be provided no later than April 20, 2021, with artists required to accept invitations by April 30, 2021. An orientation meeting is scheduled for Monday morning, June 21, 2021.
All work submitted and displayed must be available for sale. Douglas Land Conservancy will handle all sales with a 60/40 split (60% to artist, 40% to Douglas Land Conservancy). Artists set their own prices. Artists are responsible for insurance if desired. Douglas Land Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit land trust dedicated to protecting the natural character, habitat, and open space of the central front range region of Colorado.
