About This Call
Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute invites artists with disabilities to submit artwork to participate in the 57th Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale. The show provides a forum for artists to showcase and sell their work while promoting the community-based programs of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
This is a virtual art show. Artists are invited to submit two works of art, each available for sale at a fair market price. Artists are encouraged to provide a one to two sentence artwork description for each entry and a 30-45 second "Meet the Artist" video introducing themselves and answering: How has your disability impacted your art? What inspires you to create art? Artist biographies of approximately 500 words or less will be displayed online next to the artwork.
Eligibility: All artists with a disability causing physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major daily life activities are eligible. Art must be original work created within the past three years, and the artist must have had a disability at the time of creation. Artwork must not exceed 36 inches in any one direction or 20 pounds in weight. Sculpture must not be larger than 10 inches deep and 30 inches tall. Anatomical nudes and graphically explicit art will not be accepted. All artwork must be finished for hanging with wire hangers recommended. Plexiglas is recommended for framing.
Submissions are reviewed in two phases: Phase 1 reviews digital JPEG images to select artwork for the show; Phase 2 is the jury review of accepted work. Art categories include Graphic, Mixed Media, Oils and Acrylics, Photography, Sculpture, and Watercolor. Awards include a $500 cash award for "Best of Show," and first, second, third, and honorable mention ribbons in all categories ($250, $175, $125, and $100 respectively). Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute retains 25% of the selling price. Only artwork sold during the show needs to be shipped or delivered to buyers. Payments for sold artwork will be issued in July 2021. Show dates: April 21 – May 14, 2021.
