2021 Art Ability Exhibition at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital

The 26th Annual Art Ability Exhibition is an international juried exhibition and sale of art and fine crafts by artists with disabilities, held at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Eligibility is open to artists with physical, cognitive, visual, and hearing disabilities. Work must have been created after the onset of a disability or injury and within the last five years. All works must be original and for sale; art previously exhibited in Art Ability is not eligible. Acceptable media include painting, watercolor, drawing, fine printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture (under 25 lbs.), jewelry, fine crafts, and functional art. Dimensions must be between 13" and 48" including frame, with a maximum weight of 25 lbs. All flat works on paper, cardboard, or delicate surfaces must be protected with Plexiglas and framed. Canvas must be on sturdy stretcher bars with finished edges and proper wiring for hanging.

Artists may submit up to 6 works through the CaFE website (callforentry.org) with one JPEG image per work. Applications require title, medium, size, year completed, and price. An artist statement of no more than 125 words should describe your art, inspiration, and the role art has played in your life with disability. There is no entry fee. Artists whose work is accepted will be notified in July 2021. The exhibition opens with a Virtual Celebration on November 6, 2021, and runs from November 7, 2021 to January 30, 2022 at the hospital location. Artists earn 80 percent of sales during the exhibition and 60 percent for ongoing sales programs. Up to $8,000 in prizes will be awarded, with individual prizes up to $1,000 per piece.
