About This Call
Storyknife Writers Retreat offers residencies for female-identified writers in Homer, Alaska. Residencies are available for either two or four weeks, with four-week residencies running from the 1st to the 28th of each month and two-week residencies from the 1st to the 15th. Residencies are available April through October. Food and lodging are covered during the residency period; travel to and from Homer is the resident's responsibility. Residents stay in individual cabins and dine at the main house with an on-staff chef/manager.
Applicants must be woman-identified, 21 years of age or older, and apply as an individual artist. The application requires submission of a writing sample not to exceed 10 pages (prose: double-spaced 12 point font, poetry: single-spaced 12 point font acceptable) completed within the last two years. Applicants must also answer three questions of 300 words or fewer each: how you have sought to educate yourself as a writer, your experience with publishing your work, and what project you will pursue during residency. Work samples must be combined into one PDF file and submitted through CaFE. Any identifying material in work samples will result in disqualification, as this is a blind jurying process. Published or unpublished work samples are acceptable.
The application fee is $35.00. Storyknife is committed to diversity and welcomes all applicants. For questions regarding eligibility or application preparation, contact executive director Erin Hollowell at [email protected].
