About This Call
Open to artists over 18 residing in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. All media accepted including oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, drawings, mixed media, fiber, and sculpture.
One artist will be awarded a $10,000 grant presented at an exhibit of their work. MOFSA seeks to support artists with an existing body of spiritual art and potential for further growth who lack the means to evolve due to insufficient external support or finances. Selected artists who do not receive the grant will share equally in $2,000 of additional awards. The 2020 exhibit theme is "Towards the Spiritual" and will feature the grant recipient's work, including a new piece not previously shown elsewhere, along with work from other selected applicants. The exhibit runs September 30 - October 28, 2020.
Applicants must submit 5 digital images of their work, a statement addressing how art has changed them, the role of spirituality in their life, art's role in transformation, their plans for developing their art within their spiritual journey, and thoughts on a new work they want to create. Also required: artist biography and website information if available. Entry fee is $40 (nonrefundable), paid by credit card, PayPal through CaFE, or check to MOFSA, 4515 Emory Lane, Charlotte, NC 28211. All artwork must be original and available for sale. MOFSA receives 20% commission on works sold during the exhibit or within 30 days after closing. All 2D work must be suitably framed and properly wired; drawings, watercolors, and pastels must be under Plexiglas. Work must be hand-delivered or shipped to arrive before the exhibit and remain for its duration. Unsold hand-delivered work must be picked up by the specified date; unsold shipped work will be returned via artist-supplied pre-paid label.
