About This Call
Eastlake was incorporated into the city of Thornton in 1990. In 2017 Thornton City Council adopted a Subarea Plan for Eastlake. This Roundabout Project is part of the plan for Eastlake development. Landscape, history, agriculture and natural lifestyles have formed Eastlake's history and identity. Design submissions should consider these values. The focus of the artwork should cohesively bring together history, nature and art, showing an unexpected and creative design that interprets Eastlake attitudes. Abstract works are acceptable.
As Eastlake transitions to becoming a transit-oriented development, the intent is to develop a common language of materials and visual cues to cohesively identify Eastlake and honor its industrial agriculture heritage in a contemporary and compatible manner. The artist(s) must prove that the design is low-water use, low maintenance and well lit at night. The artwork will be site specific. The roundabout is located at 128th Avenue & Cook Circle, Eastlake, CO. The circular area intended for the art is 65 feet in diameter with no height restriction for the proposed design. Site visits are encouraged.
Work sample requirements: 1-3 images, 0-3 videos, 1-6 total samples maximum. Finalists will be contacted and issued a stipend to produce final, complete site-specific 3D renderings along with supporting materials (budgets, timelines, etc.).
