2020 Plein Aire Perspectives: Hawaiʻi Statewide Jury Plein Aire Painting Exhibit

This is a statewide juried plein aire painting exhibition open to all Hawaiʻi-based artists. Artists may submit up to five entries, with a $15 non-refundable entry fee per submission. Work samples should include 1-5 images.

Submission deadline is January 17, 2020 at 11:59 PM MST. Artist notification will be sent January 20, 2020. Drop-off of accepted artwork at Wailoa Center in Hilo is Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. For Kona artists, pick-up is available Friday, January 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Donkey Mill. Off-island work must be received by January 31, 2020 and shipped to Wailoa Center, 200 Piopio St., Hilo, Hawaii. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must include prepaid return labels.

The exhibition opens February 7, 2020 with a reception and awards ceremony from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. The exhibition closes February 27, 2020, with artist pick-up on February 28, 2020. Jurors are Bonnie Sol Hahn and Amy Markham. Monetary prizes will be awarded. Works should be for sale, with HIAA charging a 20% commission on all sales. Various media and both traditional and non-traditional approaches to plein aire painting are encouraged. Photography, reproductions, and digital art will not be accepted. Contact: [email protected]
