2020 NWS Annual Member Exhibition

The National Watercolor Society invites member submissions for the 2020 NWS Annual Member Exhibition. The entry fee is $40 for members (a $20 discount coupon is available through the NWS Members Only site). Non-members may join as Associate Members by paying $50 annual dues before entering. Each artist may submit only one painting completed within the last two years. Work previously exhibited in any National or International Open Exhibition or NWS Members Exhibition is ineligible.

Artwork must be primarily water-based media on any appropriate 2-dimensional water media surface, with other media used only in conjunction with water media as the dominant medium. Digital media, photography, prints, and reproductions are not permitted. Artists must be 18 years or older, and entries must be original works painted only by the artist, not produced in a class or workshop. Photo reference material must have been taken by the artist. Artwork image size must be minimum 5" x 7" and maximum 30" in the longest dimension.

Framing options include professional framing through Bartwood's Art Department (loaner matting, plexi, and frame fee of $150-$175) or artist-framed work following NWS requirements (plain wooden frames no wider than 1.5", minimum 9" x 11", maximum 40" x 40", with white mats and no glass—work must be under plexiglass or sealed by the artist). All work must be for sale with no price changes after acceptance. NWS retains a 30% commission on sales. Three $1,000 awards and four $500 awards will be given to honor Past Presidents. The juror of selection is Carlson Hatton. Artists are responsible for insuring their paintings; NWS is not responsible for damage or loss.
