About This Call

The Jewelry and Metals Survey (JaMS) is SNAG's annual survey of jewelry and metals in contemporary art, architecture, craft, and design created in the previous year by emerging and established artists, as well as students. The publication showcases approximately 200 juried objects, highlighting the wide range of current ideas and making practices in the field of jewelry and metals.

SNAG invites artists, craftspeople, designers, public artists, and architects worldwide to submit images of artworks created between January 2019 and July 2020 that focus on metal and/or jewelry. Everyone, from any sector of the field and at any level of experience, is encouraged to apply. Curators are also welcome to submit recent work purchased by their institution. Applicants can submit up to three artworks. Images must be at a minimum of 4 inches x 6 inches at 300 dpi (1200 pixels on the longest side), with file sizes limited to 5MB each. Videos are also accepted. No detail shots will be accepted. Entry fee is $45 for non-members and $20 for SNAG members.

The jury will select the top 100 images from submissions; each juror will also select up to an additional 33 images to be published. Entries are judged on creative and inventive use of medium, innovation in style and concept, technical proficiency and craftsmanship, form and aesthetics, consistency of quality, and other considerations as determined by the jury. The 2020 JaMS will be published in print format in December 2020/January 2021.
