2020 Handcrafted: A Juried Exhibition of Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Metal, and Wood

The 2020 Handcrafted is the 22nd annual juried exhibition of ceramics, fiber, glass, metal, wood, paper, or any combination of craft medias. The exhibition runs from January 10 to April 12, 2020 at the Maria V. Howard Arts Center at the Imperial Centre, 270 Gay Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Eligibility is open to all US artists 18 years of age or older. Work must be original (no kits), completed in the past two years, and not previously exhibited at the Arts Center. Artists may submit up to four works for a non-refundable $25 entry fee. Each artwork may be represented by up to three separate images showing details or different views of the work. Entry materials are due by October 18, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT through CaFE. Notifications to artists will be sent by mail the week of November 4, 2019, with winning artists called by phone.

Awards include an Acquisition Award of $1,000 (work becomes part of the Arts Center's Permanent Collection), First Place $300, Second Place $200, and Third Place $100. The juror is Michelle Davis Petelinz, Art Program Director of the African American Cultural Festival in Raleigh, NC. Award winners will be selected after the exhibition is installed and announced at the Artist Reception on January 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. All works must be completely dry, framed, wired, ready for hanging, or otherwise suitably prepared for exhibition, and may not exceed 6 feet in any direction. Accepted works must arrive by December 13, 2019. The Arts Center will retain 40% commission on works sold. The Arts Center will insure accepted entries from receipt through May 12, 2020 for 60% of the retail price. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return shipping costs and arrangements.
