About This Call

The 2020 City of Overland Park Art at the Center Juried Exhibition is open to artists nationally. The exhibition runs from April 3 through May 31, 2020, with an opening reception on Friday, April 3, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The juror is Ada Koch.

Entry fee is $25 for up to 4 images. Submissions may include paintings, film, digital photography, sculpture, video, collage, textiles, jewelry, ceramics, mixed media, and other art forms. Artists may submit 1-4 images and up to 1 video. The entry deadline is February 10, 2020, with notification on February 18, 2020.

Awards include Best of Show ($2,500), Second Place ($1,500), Third Place ($1,000), four Honorable Mention Awards ($250 each), and a People's Choice Award ($200) selected at the opening reception. Awards are sponsored by the Friends of Overland Park Arts.

Presentation requirements include: strip framing and saw tooth hangers are forbidden; stretched canvas may be unframed only if sides are painted (gallery wrap); framed art must weigh no more than 30 lbs; hanging wire must be at least 100# weight (#3 wire); works should be covered and/or fixed when appropriate; floor sculptures or pedestal works must be independently stable; video works must either supply presentation equipment or be playable by a standard DVD player and television.

Acceptance at the image judging stage does not necessarily guarantee inclusion in the exhibition. Any piece that differs significantly from the original image entry will be disqualified. Artwork must be received ready to display. All shipped work must be insured through the carrier for both delivery and return. The gallery accepts no liability for pieces damaged during shipment. If work is not collected within 45 days and formal communication is unanswered, the art will be deemed abandoned and handled at the City's discretion. In the event a piece is damaged by the public, the City will cover repair costs up to 75% of the listed price; if damaged beyond repair, the artist will be paid 75% of the list price.
