About This Call
Presented by Douglas Land Conservancy, this plein air painting event invites artists to paint on beautiful, private conserved properties in southern Douglas County, Colorado that are rarely open to the public. Artists will have the opportunity to paint on location for a week, followed by a VIP art sale and reception at the White Pavilion in downtown Castle Rock, Colorado. Volunteers will be available on site throughout the event to provide information and directions to the painting locations.
Application fee is $35 (non-refundable). Artists may submit up to six images for jurying, representative of their typical work. Subject matter must reflect conserved lands. All work must be wired and ready to hang. Artists must provide a brief biography describing their work, awards, shows participated in, galleries featuring their work, price range, and website. Entry deadline is April 1, 2020. Notification of acceptance will be no later than April 20, 2020, with a deadline for artists to accept invitation by April 30, 2020.
Event schedule: Orientation meeting Monday morning, June 22, 2020; painting on conserved lands June 22-26, 2020; VIP art show reception June 26, 2020; art show dates June 26-28, 2020; pickup of unsold paintings June 28, 2020. All work submitted and displayed must be available for sale. Douglas Land Conservancy will handle all sales with a 60/40 split (60% to artist, 40% to conservancy). Artists are responsible for insurance if desired. Open to all artists painting in plein air.
