About This Call

Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital invites artists with physical, cognitive, hearing, and visual disabilities to submit work for the 2020 Art for the View exhibition. For over 90 years, Sunnyview has been leading the field in physical disability rehabilitation services in New York. The Viewpoint Gallery collects artwork created exclusively by artists with disabilities, with the goal of inspiring patients and visitors to reach beyond limitations and explore their own abilities and creativity.

The exhibit will be featured at a ticketed Art for the View event on October 22, 2020, then displayed from October 26, 2020 through December 4, 2020 at Sunnyview Hospital in Schenectady, NY. The hospital exhibit is free and open to the public. All artwork on display is for sale. Emerging and experienced artists are welcome to submit. Up to five pieces may be submitted in any media. Only work executed after the onset of disability or injury is eligible; works must have been completed within the last seven years. Reproduction prints will not be accepted.

Work requirements: Two-dimensional pieces must be framed with Plexiglas (glass only for pastels) and ready to hang, with maximum frame height of 48 inches. Sculpture must weigh no more than 25 pounds. Submit one to two images of each piece along with title, year completed, medium, dimensions, biography, and artist statement. Artists earn 75% of sales, with payments made by check after the exhibition closes. Accepted and non-accepted artists will be notified by July 3rd. Distinguished members of the Capital Region arts community will award prizes ranging from $300 to $50 for Best in Show, 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place. For questions, contact Brittany Blond at [email protected] or (518)382-4586.
