About This Call

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego invites submissions of up to three works of art for outdoor public display in Lake Oswego's Gallery Without Walls exhibit. In its twentieth year, this program integrates art into the daily lives of local residents and visitors by presenting works from regional, national, and international artists that resonate with people of diverse backgrounds.

Artists can submit completed works or proposals for new works to be completed by installation in August 2020. Artwork will be displayed throughout the downtown business district for a two-year exhibition period from summer 2020 to summer 2022. Up to fifteen artists will be selected by a Selection Committee based on overall quality and merit. Submissions from emerging, mid-career, established, and collaborative artists are encouraged. Works of various media including sculpture, new media, projections, and murals are sought. Submissions of artwork created within the last three years are highly encouraged.

Selected artists will receive an honorarium of $1,000 and are eligible for an annual People's Choice purchase award of up to $20,000 (with a 30% gallery fee). Selected artists are invited to attend the annual Gallery Without Walls Celebration in September. Works will be available for sale during the exhibition period with a 30% gallery fee paid to the Arts Council. Selected artists enter into a two-year contract with the City of Lake Oswego. Sculptures are generally displayed on concrete plinths of varying sizes (2 x 2' to 7 x 7'). A limited number of locations have electrical capability. Artists are responsible for delivery and attendance at installation and de-installation. The City maintains liability insurance during the exhibition period. Work samples must include 1-3 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (9 total maximum). Submissions must include concept statement (minimum 100 words), inspiration, artwork information (title, materials, dimensions, color, weight, date of creation, exhibition history, base specifications), price, resume/CV, and artist website. Submit complete proposals as a single PDF to [email protected] with subject line "Application for GWW 2020."
