About This Call
The City of Brighton Eye for Art Committee invites artists to submit sculptures for the 2019/2020 Art-on-Loan program at Carmichael Park (650 E Southern Street, Brighton, Colorado). Five sculptures will be selected for outdoor installation. Artists may submit up to eight separate sculptures; each application represents one artwork with 1 to 5 images.
Submission Requirements: Applications are due by midnight on January 15, 2019. All sculptures must be available for delivery and installation by May 1, 2019 and remain on display until April 31, 2020. Sculptures will be installed on black powder-coated steel pedestals (36" high and 36" square, with one 12" option available). Minimum height is 4 feet; maximum weight is 1,000 pounds. Sculptures must be safe for public interaction, especially with children, and suitable for outdoor exposure to sun, wind, temperature fluctuations, and moisture. The artist is responsible for transportation, installation, and de-installation, and must provide all necessary tools and equipment including extension cords. Fragile, vulnerable, or inappropriate work will not be considered.
Compensation and Selection: Selected artists receive a $500 honorarium per sculpture. The Eye for Art Committee retains a 20% commission on sculptures sold. A $1,000 cash award will be given to the artist chosen by Brighton citizens as "Brighton's Choice." Artists will be selected on February 1, 2019 and notified by the following week. Plaques will be provided listing the artist, materials, price, and contact information for purchase. The program is open to national artists with an open theme.
