About This Call
The Transparent Watercolor Society of America is accepting entries for its 43rd National Exhibition, held at the Kenosha Public Museum in Wisconsin. Over $20,000 in cash awards will be distributed. Entrants must be residents of North America, 18 years or older, and current TWSA members in good standing with 2019 dues paid ($40). Entry fees are $10 for one image or $15 for two images; Life Members enter free. Prepaid members can use coupon code 40offTWSA to pay entry fees only. Unpaid members can enter for $50 (one image) or $55 (two images) and automatically become TWSA members.
All paintings must be original transparent watercolor work created after January 1, 2017, with no instructor supervision. Work must be applied transparently on single-sheet 100% rag or cotton paper, free of pigment and embedded materials. Pencil marks are permitted only for planning. Framed size cannot exceed 50 inches in either direction; minimum mat opening is 8"x10". Unacceptable materials include white paint, gesso, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, metallic or iridescent paint, collage, surface constructions, embossing, varnishing, Yupo paper, digital images, or enhancements.
Jurors for 2019 are Laurin McCracken and Linda Baker, both internationally recognized award-winning watercolorists. Notifications will be announced the first week of March. Paintings are due April 13-20, with the exhibition opening May 4 and closing August 4. Workshops by both jurors are scheduled for June 3-14, followed by an awards dinner on June 8. A 30% commission is charged by the Kenosha Public Museum for paintings sold. Contact Sheryl Fletcher Coon at [email protected] for questions.
