2019 Sculpture Walk Peoria

Sculpture Walk Peoria is the fifth annual juried outdoor sculpture exhibition accepting submissions from local, regional, national, and international artists. The exhibition showcases and sells sculptures while enhancing the cultural environment of Peoria. Sculptures will be placed in highly visible locations along Washington Street in close proximity to the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Peoria is a city of 119,000 with a regional population of about 400,000, located 2½ hours from Chicago, 2½ hours from St. Louis, and 3 hours from Indianapolis.

Selected artists receive a $2,000 honorarium ($1,500 upon installation and $500 upon removal), plus an additional $1,000 People's Choice Award given to one artist in October 2019. Artists are responsible for delivering, installing, and removing their work. Sculpture Walk Peoria provides complimentary boom truck and install volunteers on Friday, May 17, 2019 for installation and Saturday, April 4, 2020 for de-installation. Free hotel accommodations for up to 2 nights are provided during installation. Sculptures are loaned from May 18, 2019 through March 2020 and must be made of materials that can withstand outdoor weather without requiring maintenance. All sculptures must be for sale, and Sculpture Walk Peoria receives a 20% commission on sales.

Submissions require an artist's resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). A $20 application fee applies per artist. Submissions are evaluated on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability. The jury consists of approximately 7 jurors with 4 having an art/art leadership background and approximately 3 having a business/community leadership background. Jury will give priority to newer sculptures. Selected artists must bring the sculpture that was selected; no substitutions are permitted. Installation must occur between May 1 and May 17, 2019 for the opening event on May 18, 2019. De-installation must occur during April 2020.
