About This Call
The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) invites high school students in grades 9-12 from Southeast Michigan to submit work for the 2019 Regional High School Art Competition. Eligible students attend regional public, private, parochial, and home schools in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair Counties. Students do not need to be enrolled in BBAC classes to enter.
Artists may submit up to two entries in 2-D and 3-D media (excluding video or outside reproduction). The entry fee is $7 per student. Submissions are made online through CaFÉ at www.CallForEntry.org and will be juried online only. Applicants may upload up to four images; if submitting multiple images, label them as "title of piece" and "title of piece-DETAIL." Do not include your name in the images. For 3-D work, images must show all components that will be displayed. Applications open March 1 and close April 10 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury results will be posted April 16. Accepted work must be delivered or shipped to the BBAC by April 27. The exhibition runs May 3-June 6, with an opening reception on May 3 from 6-8 p.m. and College Day on May 4 from 1-4 p.m. Award notifications will be sent by email on May 1. Outtake is June 7-8 from 1-4:30 p.m.
All 2-D work must be properly wired for hanging with a maximum height of 9 feet. Accepted work must include artist name, address, phone, email, school name, teacher's name, current grade, title, media, and price or NFS (not for sale) designation. The BBAC retains a 45% commission on all sales. The juror is Sue O'Connor, a BFA graduate and art instructor with work featured in Ceramics Monthly Magazine and 500 Series: 500 Prints on Clay. For questions, contact the BBAC at 248.644.0866 or [email protected].
