About This Call
The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking six sculptures for a two-year rotating exhibition in the Old Town Keller West area. Sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit for the duration. All sculptures must be family-appropriate with no sexual, bloody, or violent content, and must pose no risk to public safety. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller.
Each selected artist will receive a $1,500 honorarium for installation, exhibition, and removal of the artwork over the two-year period. One-half of the stipend will be provided upon selection, with the remainder paid upon successful installation. One Best in Show winner will receive an additional $500. Sculptures will be displayed on existing 5'x5' concrete pads, and the City of Keller may provide assistance with installation and removal. If a piece is sold while on display, the artist must replace it with a different sculpture, with Board approval, within 60 days.
Artists must reside in Texas and submit original works only. Sculptures must have a base that fits on the 5'x5' concrete pad, with a maximum height of 12' and maximum weight of 2,500 pounds. Sculptures must be ready for installation no later than June 1, 2019. Each artist may submit up to 5 applications, with one sculpture per application. Applications must include a résumé, artist statement (maximum 1,000 words), and sculpture description (maximum 1,000 words) detailing title, media, size, weight, year completed, purchase price, installation requirements, and information on current and future copies of the proposed sculpture. Contact [email protected] or 817-743-4000 with questions.
