About This Call

The 2019 North Carolina Statewide Pastel Exhibition, titled "On Common Ground: From the Mountains to the Sea," is a juried exhibition hosted by the Appalachian Pastel Society in collaboration with the Pastel Society of North Carolina and the Piedmont Pastel Society. The exhibition runs May 4 through August 18, 2019 at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC. Juror Lyn Asselta is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and an International Association of Pastel Societies Eminent Pastelist.

Eligibility requires membership in one of the three North Carolina pastel societies at the time of the show. Membership is open to non-residents. Artwork must be 80% dry pastel (no oil pastels), completed within the last five years, and not previously exhibited in a North Carolina Statewide Exhibition. Size limitation is 42 inches in either direction including frame. Artists may submit up to 2 images for $35 entry fee. Online entry deadline is March 15, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via callforentry.org. Images must be in JPEG format, 72 dpi, 1920 pixels on longest side, maximum 3 MB file size.

Awards include $1000 Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd Place Cash Awards, Art Supplies and Certificates. APS members accepted receive Special Member Credit. Accepted work must be professionally framed under glass or acrylic with white or off-white mats only. The Hickory Museum receives a 30% commission from sales. Delivery of accepted work is April 22-26 (weekdays 9am-5pm) or April 27 (10am-2pm) or April 29 (10am-2pm). Pickup is August 19 (10am-3pm) or August 20 (10am-2pm).
