About This Call
The 55th Annual Newport Beach Art Exhibition presents an opportunity for artists to show and sell their artwork to the public in a one-day exhibit, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting community art programs throughout the year.
The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age and older. Artists may submit up to two works of art. Entry fees are $30 for one entry and $40 for two entries. Original artwork only—works must have been created within the last two years and cannot be school assignments, works done under instructor supervision, or copies of published photos or reproductions. Photography must be signed and numbered. All two-dimensional artwork must be framed, with a size limit of 36" x 48" (dimensions do not include frame). Three-dimensional works are limited to 150 lbs. or less. Artists must provide appropriate display equipment: a table-top easel for two-dimensional artwork up to 24" x 24", a sturdy stand-up easel for larger two-dimensional work, and a pedestal for three-dimensional artwork. All artwork must be for sale, with a 20% donation to the Newport Beach Arts Foundation accepted on sales.
Delivery and retrieval of artwork must be done in person or by a designated representative on assigned dates and times. Artist delivery: Friday, June 14, 3:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 15, 8:30-10:00 a.m. The exhibition and sale take place Saturday, June 15, 1:00-6:00 p.m., with an awards reception at 4:30 p.m. and artwork retrieval at 6:00 p.m. Awards are offered in categories including Painting: Oils & Acrylics, Painting: Watercolors (includes Ink, Pencil and Charcoal), Photography, and 3D Art (includes Sculpture and 3D Mixed Media), with prizes of $300 (1st), $200 (2nd), and $100 (3rd) in each category. Additional awards include Juror's Choice ($200) and People's Choice ($100). The juror is Cassandra Coblentz, Senior Curator and Director of Public Programs at the Orange County Museum of Art.
