About This Call
The 2019 MidSummer Art Celebration is a regional exhibition open to artists in Hawaii. Artists may submit up to five entries, with a $15 non-refundable entry fee per submission. An additional $15 media fee applies, and videos incur a $3 surcharge. Submissions must include 1-5 images.
The submission deadline is Friday, May 17 at 5:59 PM. Artists will be notified of acceptance on Monday, May 20. Artwork may be dropped off at Wailoa Center (200 Piopio St., Hilo) on Saturday, June 1 between 10:00am-2:00pm. For Kona artists, pickup is available at Donkey Mill on Friday, May 31 between 10:00am-11:00am. Off-island work must be received by Friday, May 31 and must include a prepaid return label.
The exhibition runs from Friday, June 7 through Wednesday, June 26 at Wailoa Center. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Friday, June 7 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Monetary prizes will be awarded. Artists must pick up work on Thursday, June 27 between 10:00am-2:00pm. Works should be for sale; the Hawaii Island Art Alliance will charge a 20% commission on all sales. The juror is Emily Catey Weiss, Program Director at Volcano Art Center.
