2019 Jewelry and Metals Survey (JaMS) Publication

The Jewelry and Metals Survey (JAMS) is SNAG's annual survey of jewelry and metals in contemporary art, architecture, craft, and design created in the previous year by emerging and established artists, as well as students. The survey is selected by a jury of experts including curators, artists, designers, gallery owners, and historians. The publication showcases approximately 200 juried objects, highlighting the wide range of current ideas and making practices in the field of jewelry and metals.

The 2019 call for entries is open from April 16 through June 24, 2019. The jury will select the top 100 images from submissions; each juror will also select an additional 33 images to be published. The 2019 JAMS will be published in late 2019/early 2020. SNAG invites artists, craftspeople, designers, public artists, and architects worldwide to submit images of new works focusing on metal and/or jewelry. Everyone from any sector of the field at any level of experience is encouraged to apply. Curators are also welcome to submit recent work purchased by their institution.

Applicants should submit between one to three digital images, illustrating one work per image. Videos are also accepted. No detail shots will be accepted. Digital photographs must be of actual objects designed and made between April 16, 2018 and June 24, 2019. Only one entry is allowed per artist. For online jurying, photographs should be a minimum of 4 inches x 6 inches at 300 dpi (1200 pixels on the longest side), with file sizes limited to 5MB each. After acceptance, applicants will be asked to provide additional higher-resolution images for publication (minimum 6 inches on the longest edge at 300 dpi). The entry fee is $45. SNAG members receive a discounted entry fee of $20.
