About This Call
This competition is open to photographers age 18 or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure, and Chemigram, as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints, and Digital Prints are not eligible. There is no limitation as to subject matter.
Entrants must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 images. The entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the initial submission.
The juror is Christopher James, an internationally known artist and photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad. James is the author of The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, recognized as the definitive text in alternative process photography. He is University Professor and Director of the MFA program in Photography and Integrated Media at Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
