About This Call
Figureworks is calling artists in all media to submit to the 10th annual juried Figureworks Prize and award show. Figureworks is an annual juried art prize and celebration of the art of the human form held in Ottawa, Canada. The organization accepts figurative works in all media from Canada and internationally. The show is open to all living artists working in all mediums who wish to submit recent works that represent the human form or parts thereof.
Works should represent the human form or parts thereof. All media and styles are accepted, including paintings, drawings, sculpture and photography. Works must be complete, stable and dry to the touch. Works can be no older than three years and must not have been entered in a previous Figureworks show. Works must be made independently, without guidance, and must be as represented in the images submitted. The jury will be looking for the best combination of skill, concept and originality.
The submission deadline is September 30, 2019. Entry fees are $35 USD for one artwork or $50 USD for two artworks (students $20 or $30 with valid Student ID). Artists are limited to two submissions. Image submissions must include a high quality image 1-5 MB in size that is a minimum of 1280 pixels wide. Artwork drop-off is November 18th, 2019. The jury includes Michael Davidge, Andrew Morrow and Joanne Stober. Artists will have their work displayed in Ottawa and published on the Figureworks website. Cash prizes were awarded last year ($7000 total). Artists may sell their works at the show; Figureworks takes no commission on sales. Size restrictions apply: framed artwork maximum 60 inches height, 54 inches width, 2400 square inches, 40 lbs; sculpture maximum 60 inches height, 48 inches width and depth, 80 lbs. Artworks must be ready to hang in a professional manner. International submissions must arrive by November 15th, 2019 and include a proforma invoice with artist and receiver information, artwork details, and customs documentation. Artists are responsible for return shipping and insurance.
