About This Call
The 14th Annual 2019 California Open is a national juried exhibition celebrating contemporary and modern art. Artists 18 years and older may submit Computer Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture, and Video works. Accepted work will be exhibited at TAG Gallery from August 7–23, 2019. All work will be for sale.
TAG Gallery is an artist-owned gallery collective located near LACMA and the Craft Contemporary in Los Angeles' Miracle Mile, featuring 5,400 sq. ft. of gallery space. The exhibition is open to all artists in the United States 18 years and older. Entries are limited to a maximum of six works completed since 2014 and not previously shown at TAG Gallery (TAG member artists are not eligible). Work must be original, and artists must own the sole copyright. Hanging works are limited to 60" height and 40" width including frame and may not exceed 30 lbs. Sculptures are limited to 48" height x 20" depth and may not exceed 40 lbs. including base. Video work may not exceed 10 minutes in length. Two-dimensional works on paper must be framed and under plexiglass.
Awards include First Place $1,000, Second Place $500, Third Place $250, and three Honorable Mentions. The juror is Ruth Weisberg, artist and Professor of Fine Arts at USC Roski School. Entry fee is $50 for the first three entries, with additional entries at $10 each. All work will be insured while on display and in TAG Gallery's possession. TAG Gallery retains a 50% commission on sales during the exhibition and 30 days after closing. Results will be emailed after July 16, 2019, with accepted artists listed on www.taggallery.net.
