About This Call
Open Studios Boulder invites artists to apply to be one of up to 30 juried artists in the third annual Boulder Plein Air Festival, a week-long celebration of landscapes, cityscapes, workshops, and free events from April 28 through May 5, 2019. Artists will create work on location in beautiful Boulder County, Colorado.
The application fee is $50 per artist. Juried artists receive features in the festival printed catalog (circulation approximately 8,000), social media promotion on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, email marketing to nearly 4,000 art lovers in Colorado's Front Range, eligibility for awards and prize money, boxed lunch at all scheduled paint-outs, on-site hospitality, and spot-sitting assistance during paint-outs and quick draw. Open Studios retains a 40% commission on sales of art created during the festival (April 28-May 5, 2019), with artists receiving 60% of sales, paid no later than May 15, 2019.
Juried artists must participate in the festival by working on-site, en plein air, in Boulder County for at least 4 of the 6 days, participate in the Quick Draw on Pearl Street Mall, create at least 7 pieces for the exhibit, and sign a contract by March 15. Non-juried community artists may participate in paint-outs for $35 per day ($25 per day if registering for three or more paint-outs in advance), which includes boxed lunch and on-site hospitality. The festival exhibit runs May 4-5, 11am-5pm, with art drop-off May 3, 9am-noon and reception May 3, 6-9pm at Rembrandt Yard Gallery.
