About This Call
Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute invites artists with disabilities to submit artwork to participate in the 55th Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale. First created as a way to provide a forum for the creative talents of people with disabilities, the art show offers a unique opportunity for artists to showcase and sell their art as well as a way to promote all of the community based programs of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
All artists with a disability causing physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major daily life activities are eligible. Art must be the original work of the artist and created within the past three years. The artist must have had a disability at the time of art creation. Submissions are limited to two entries per artist. Artwork must not exceed 36 inches in any one direction and must not exceed 20 pounds. Sculpture must not be larger than 10 inches deep and 30 inches tall. Anatomical or graphic nude art will not be accepted. Art must be for sale at a fair market price, with a maximum price of $2,000. Artwork must be finished for hanging with an attached wire hanger at minimum 6 inches wide.
The jury process occurs in two phases. Phase 1 involves review of digital JPEG images to select original framed art for submission. Phase 2 is an in-person jury of accepted artwork. All art must be received by March 15, 2019. Artwork may be shipped with a paid return label or hand-delivered to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute (3915 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN 55422) between March 12-16, 9 AM - 4 PM. An artist biography of approximately 500 words or less must be submitted with each entry. The show runs April 25 - May 17, 2019. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute retains 25% of the selling price. Awards include a $500 cash award for Best of Show, and first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons in all categories with cash awards of $250, $175, $125 and $100 respectively. Unsold hand-delivered artwork must be picked up May 22-24, 9 AM - 4 PM, or will be considered a donation to the institute's permanent collection.
