About This Call
Broomfield Public Art invites submissions for the 2019 Art for Awhile Sculpture Program. Up to nine sculptures will be selected for installation at three landmark locations throughout the community: 1STBANK Center, the Broomfield Library and Auditorium, and North Metro Fire Rescue District Headquarters.
Selected artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium for each sculpture. Sculptures must be available for delivery by March 1, 2019 and will remain on display until March 1, 2020. The artist is responsible for transportation to the installation site. Sculptures will be installed outside and exposed to harsh sun, high winds (80-100 mph), wide temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Maximum weight must not exceed 1,000 pounds. A minimum height of 4 feet is recommended. Sculptures must be safe for public interaction, especially with children, and must fit the specified pads and pedestals at each location. Submit a minimum of two images (different angles) and a maximum of eight images of the exact sculptures to be considered. Do not submit models or substitutions.
The application deadline is August 4, 2018 at midnight MDT. Artists will be notified of selections in mid-November. The Broomfield Public Art Committee will select artwork based on artistic excellence, timelessness, site compatibility, design elements, permanence, safety, and diversity. By submitting a proposal, artists agree to the non-negotiable contract terms, which include indemnification and insurance requirements. The Public Art Committee will retain a 20% commission on sculptures sold. Questions should be directed to [email protected].
