About This Call

San Francisco Art Institute is accepting submissions for its 2019-2020 Juried Alumni Exhibitions to be held in November 2019, March 2020, and July 2020. The exhibitions are designed to identify and bring together alumni of San Francisco Art Institute and showcase their creative talent across a variety of contemporary approaches to art-making. Alumni chapters are also planning geographically specific exhibitions and events throughout the year for which artwork will be considered.

Eligible artists must have received a degree from San Francisco Art Institute. Alumni from a variety of disciplines are encouraged to apply. Works for on-campus exhibitions will be selected by a panel of five jurors: Yasmin Lambie-Simpson (Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs), Kat Trataris (Exhibitions, Events and Partnerships Manager), and SFAI faculty members Christopher Coppola, Jeremy Morgan, and Timothy Berry. Submissions are accepted online through May 14, 2020. Artists must submit a minimum of 1 and maximum of 5 images. Up to three video files can also be submitted by URL (YouTube and Vimeo files should not require a password). Participants must also provide information about installation requirements, an artist or project statement of no more than 1,000 words, and a current resume or CV. The entry fee is $10.

Accepted work types include 2D and 3D art such as sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, digital art, fiber, mixed media, drawings, and pottery. Maximum dimensions for 2D works are 8' x 8' framed with a weight limit of 50 lbs. Maximum dimensions for 3D works are 8' x 4' x 4' with a weight limit of 100 lbs. All works must be maintenance free. Selected artists are expected to deliver their work in person or via mail one day before the installation date. Works will be de-installed one day after the exhibition closes, and artists must arrange pickup or return shipping. For questions, contact Brianna Hyneman at [email protected] or 415-749-4523 (Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM PST).
