2018 Youth Art Month Competition

All Kindergarten through 12th grade students residing in Rapides Parish are eligible to enter. All visual mediums are accepted. Artwork must be original and completed by the student only, created during the current school year. One entry per student; teachers may submit 2 entries per grade level (2 different students). There is no entry fee.

Entries must be submitted via CAFÉ as digital images (JPEGs up to 5MB with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side). For accepted works, 2-D artwork should be no larger than 26"x32" and must be securely matted or mounted in white or black. 3-D artwork is limited to 2' (24") in all measurements and must weigh less than 20 lbs. All accepted artwork must be delivered to Alexandria Museum of Art no later than Friday, February 23, 2018 at 5:00pm, accompanied by a Student Entry Form.

Works are judged in four grade level categories (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 9th-12th) based on creativity, originality, and overall presentation. Each category receives First, Second, and Third Place awards plus Honorable Mentions. One Viewer's Choice Award will be voted on by attendees at the Youth Art Month Festival. Awards will be presented on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1:00pm. The exhibition will be on display at Alexandria Museum of Art from March 2 – April 7, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, March 2 at 6:00pm. Artwork will be available for pick-up April 10-13, 2018.
