2018 Works on Paper - National Juried Competition

The 20th annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition "Works on Paper" 2018 at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences welcomes entries of original work created within the last two years. Works on Paper can include drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, and paper constructions that may be wall hung. The competition is open to emerging and established artists residing in the continental USA, ages 18 and older.

The juror is Kim Conaty, Curator of Drawings and Prints at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Awards include $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, and three honorable mentions. The exhibition runs June 1-24, 2018, with an opening reception and awards presentation on Sunday, June 17, 7-9 PM. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries. Accepted entries will be notified by email by May 15, 2018, and work must be received by May 24, 2018.

Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and 72 inches in height, and not exceed 15 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All submitted work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, and professionally presented. All paper must be displayed framed and protected under acrylic or Plexiglas. Works must be available for the duration of the exhibition and all works must be for sale. The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Work that has been previously exhibited at LBIF is not eligible.
