2018 SYNC Gallery Student Artist Scholarship

SYNC Gallery is awarding one student, recent graduate, or emerging artist an associate membership worth over $600 for 2018. The award allows an artist to exhibit as an associate artist at SYNC Gallery for free.

SYNC Gallery is an artist-run cooperative gallery located at 931 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204, in the Santa Fe Arts District. The gallery exhibits contemporary abstract and conceptual works by a collective of emerging and established artists. Associate membership includes display of artwork for 6 months in a dedicated portion of the gallery (approximately 2 linear feet of shared display space), an individual exhibit in the larger gallery featuring the artist's work during 2018 (minimum 3 weeks, shared with one Associate partner and one other member artist), participation in group exhibits and gallery meetings, discounted entry fees for SYNC juried exhibits, and discounted fees for instructional seminars. Exhibits are promoted through local and social media and the SYNC website.

Eligibility: Students or recent graduates (within 2 years) of a college or university with a focus in visual arts, emerging artists, and applicants residing within a 40-mile radius of Denver, Colorado. Artists working in all 2-D media, sculpture, or installation are eligible (audio and visual media not eligible). Applicants must submit 5 images, a statement of interest in participating in a co-op gallery outlining skills they could contribute to gallery operations, and an artist statement in 2000 characters or less describing their art practice, concept, process, and aesthetic or material directions. Entry fee: $20. Entry deadline: 12/5/17 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applications will be reviewed by SYNC Gallery staff and the grantor for completeness and eligibility. Finalists will be invited for a face-to-face interview.
